Staff
NES staff consists of exceptional educators who are dedicated and committed to the teaching profession. The staff has more than 20 years experience in teaching students with special needs as well as teaching students in the general education system. Our staff includes trained and certified teachers of Math, Spanish, French, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies as well as a qualified social worker. Below is a summary of our staff experiences and education.



Dr. Sharon Lennon has more than 20 years of experience in various administrative positions and teaching students with special needs as well as in the general education setting. Dr. Sharon Lennon has strong pedagogical skills which were developed from her extensive training and experience as a classroom teacher. Dr. Lennon is constantly guided by the belief that all students can achieve academic success. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy from Howard University, a post-graduate diploma in cartography and GIS from the University Of Twente (Netherlands), and a Master of Science degree from the University of the West Indies (Jamaica).

Mr. Lennon has a Masters Degree in Special Education and a Bachelor's Degree in History and Social Sciences. He attended the Mico Teachers College where he gathered his teaching skills and is also a certified Medication Specialist. Mr. Lennon brings an array of experience and leadership to Newlen Early Childhood. He has served as Principal in Prince George's County and has taught transition courses and special education classes with a strong background in assessment and evaluation. Mr. Lennon has been successful in individualizing instruction and preparing students to take state mandated tests. His other accomplishments include leading a High School Soccer team to the State Finals two years in a row. Mr. Lennon was named Prince George’s Soccer Coach of the Year in 2007 by the Gazette Newspapers. He is committed to helping students learn, to succeed, provide guidance and leadership to students placed under his care

Mrs. Gladiste Auguste has been teaching students with special needs for over two decades. Mrs. Auguste brings a wide range of experiences inside and outside the classroom. She earned a Bachelor in Psychology with a minor in Education at the University of York College in New York City. Mrs. Auguste has a Masters in Special Education from Touro College in New York City. During her tenure in New York City, she helped create the Alternate Assessment in the evaluation of the (SIE VI and SIE VII ) targeting the very low functioning population or the UG (Un-graded). Mrs. Auguste is proficient in French, Haitian Creole, Spanish and ASL (American Sign Language).

Mrs. Rena Brown is a dedicated teacher and healthcare worker with over 34 years combined experience working with children and adults: twenty (20) years as a teacher of Family & Consumer Sciences/ Food & Nutrition, eight (8) years as an Elementary School teacher and six (6) years in Geriatric Care. Mrs. Brown has excellent communication skills and is a team player. She prides herself for instilling in her students the importance of lifelong learning while serving as a role model. Mrs Brown uses effective and efficient methods of teaching while focusing on individual needs of students.

Ms. Juana is a nurturing teacher who is very dedicated to the social, emotional and physical needs of her students. She demonstrates a rare talent for fostering strong bonds with each child and family. Ms.Juana’s classroom reflects her personality as a fun loving environment that encourages exploration. She has earned the highest certification a CDA the national credential in Infant Toddler. Ms. Juana is fluent in Spanish.

Mrs. De-Jesus has worked in childcare for over 20 years. She excels at classroom management and bilingual teaching. Her infectious laugh is the trademark of her bubbling personality. Mrs. De Jesus is a great artist and excellent cook who delights the staff with wonderful and surprised dishes from her native land of Dominica Republic.
Mrs. Yanira De-Jesus(Lead Teacher)
Ms. Garcia is a nurturing, reliable person who is always willing to get involved in various projects with her students. She successfully completed her credentials in Child Growth and Development and Methods Ms. Garcia is the go to person when Arts and Crafts are involved. She is the most creative person I know. Ms. Garcia is fluent in Spanish.
Ms. Sindy Garcia(Assistant Teacher)
Ms. Glo has been a teacher assistant with Newlen Early Childhood for the past three years. She is presently in the process of completing her Associate degree in Childcare at the Prince George Community College. Ms. Glo works very closely with the teachers to plan and execute daily activities. Ms. Glo has extensive knowledge in (ASL) American Sign Language.
Ms. Glo-Marie Lennon(Assistant Teacher)
Mr. JJ has an Associate degree in Mass Communication. He has been with Newlen Early
Childhood for the past three years. Mr. JJ is a fun loving teacher who always has fun projects
that are the envy of all. Mr. JJ represents a father figure to his students. Our parents always
have positive and consistent praise for Mr. John Lennon.

Mr. Yusef is one of our newest Assistant teachers but has already become an important part of
the team. Mr. Yusef has earned an Associate degree in Culinary Arts. He is now pursuing a
degree in (ASL) American Sign Language while working towards a CDA, the National Credential
in Infant Toddler. When asked what words best describe Mr. Yusef, hard working and reliable
come to mind first.
